Celebrate Summer at the River

At Tunkhannock's Riverside Park

Join us as we celebrate summer at Tunkhannock's Riverside Park.  Included in the day's festivities will be live music, environmental activities for children and adults, a nature walk, plein air painters, a River Float, a petting zoo and more.  Live music will be provided by Sadie Green Sales Jugband, the blue grass group Coal Town Rounders and the George Wesley Band. Tunkhannock Tree Association - "Riverside Park 2012: The Spirit of Survival" will be the theme and will include a free-standing walk-through gallery of small poster size photos of during and after the 2011 flooding as well as the volunteers working to help restore the park. A $1.00 donation will be requested to help purchase the "Survivor Tree" which will be presented planted at a later time in the park with a bench placed next to it. The "Survivor Tree" will not only be a symbol for the survival of the park but also for anyone who is struggling to cope with a personal issue who can come, sit on the bench and reflect, de-stress, etc. Hot dogs, homemade cookies and water/soda will be sold. All profits will be used to help pay for the "Survivor Tree" and beautify the park with bird-attracting bushes and river birch trees.
