Robert May is returning to the Dietrich for this special showing of his new documentary “Kids for Cash”. He will be on hand to answer audience members’ questions about his latest film following its showing. “Kids for Cash” takes a riveting look behind the notorious Wilkes-Barre judicial scandal that rocked the nation and exposed a shocking American secret. In the wake of the shootings at Columbine, a small town celebrated a charismatic judge who is hell-bent on keeping kids in line...until one parent dared to question the motives behind his brand of justice. This real life thriller reveals the untold stories of the masterminds at the center of the scandal and the chilling aftermath of lives destroyed in the process.
He will be joined by Ted Michalowski, the courtroom artist for the Judges Conahan & Ciaverella trial for CBS and the Times Leader. His illustrations of the trial also appear in the film. During the discussion, Ted will share what goes into these journalistic drawings that capture such an intense environment, and the stories that accompany them.
